Summit Students (6th-12th Grade)
MPCC Students
6th - 12th Grade
Summit is our dynamic Youth Group designed for students in grades 6-12 to help students grow in their faith in Jesus. Our mission is to CONNECT students with God, with each other, and others with God. In addition to Sunday mornings and exciting monthly events, Summit meets Wednesday evenings for an engaging time of games, worship, a relevant Scripture-based message, prayer, and small group discussions (split by age and gender). Summit is a place where students can grow, connect, and be empowered to live out their faith!

Safety
MPCC deeply desires to protect all children involved in our ministry, so we require all staff members and volunteers (age 15+) working with children or youth to complete five safety steps before ministry work or volunteer placement begins. These steps are: 1. Initial Screening Process (including an application, interview, and references) 2. Completing sexual abuse awareness training through Ministry Safe 3. Reviewing and Agreeing to MPCC’s “Child & Youth Protection Policies & P:rocedures” 4. Criminal Background Check (ages 18+) 5. Continued Monitoring & Oversight by staff and leadership. Upon completion of the first four steps above, the Children & Youth Safety Ministry Team will review the completed steps and determine if an applicant would be a good fit for serving in the children’s and youth ministry programs.
Wednesday Evenings
We meet weekly nearly year-round (check the calendar!) on Wednesday nights from 6:00-8:00pm (Summit Middle Grades 6-8) and 7:00-9:00pm (Summit High Grades 9-12) for games/icebreakers, student-led worship, a relevant Scripture-based message, and small group time for discussion & discovery. We greatly value fellowship and students are invited to hang out before or after youth group in the Summit Game Room or MPCC Gym. There is also a community meal available for the whole family in the Fellowship Hall (September – April).
Sunday Mornings
Student Connections Hour, our variation of “Sunday School”, meets at 9am on Sundays September through June (excluding various holidays, check the calendar!) in the youth room. Utilizing D6 curriculum, Connections Hour focuses on applying God’s Word, biblical literacy, and apologetics, while providing resources for parents to encourage daily discipleship with their students. Each session includes Bible study followed by group discussion, separated into Middle School (6th-8th grade) and High School (9th-12th grade) small groups. Students are encouraged to stick around after Connections Hour for the MPCC Worship Service (all ages) at 10:15 am in the Sanctuary. Our church values the contributions of our students in the worship service, whether it is singing on the worship team, helping in the tech booth, or volunteering in kids ministries.
Ministry Model
Summit Youth Group is designed to foster community while meeting the unique needs of middle and high school students. Summit Middle (6th-8th grades) and Summit High (9th-12th grades) have separate age-specific Bible lessons and small group discussions, allowing for deeper engagement at their developmental level. However, certain parts of the night—like worship, announcements, and games—are enjoyed together as one unified group, promoting fellowship and connection across all ages.
Special
Events
Summit has monthly events & service opportunities to provide students the opportunity to deepen relationships in fellowship and live out their faith. Events include mission trips, retreats, conferences, outreach projects, game nights, and other recreational activities.
Staff/
Leadership
MPCC’s Student Ministry is led by our enthusiastic Pastor of Student Ministries & Young Adults, Josh Brandon and our dedicated Family Life Pastor, Phil Eidum. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Josh at jbrandon@mapleplaincc.org or Pastor Phil at peidum@mapleplaincc.org MPCC is also blessed to have many committed volunteer small group leaders in our Student Ministries who invest deeply into the lives of their students to offer encouragement and support.
Our
Students
Our youth group is made up of students from public, private, and homeschool settings, each bringing unique interests, gifts, and personalities. Students join us from all over the West Metro including Orono, Delano, Mound, Wayzata, and other districts and homeschool co-ops. Many of our students’ families attend MPCC but many others are members of other local churches – which is great too! No matter where a student is on their faith journey—curious, questioning, or deeply rooted in Christ—they are welcome here as part of our community!
